The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) wanted to future-proof its recruitment processes. The organization was working with outdated systems and a careers webpage that no longer reflected their employer identity.
The ambition: a more efficient and transparent process—from job application to hiring—supported by a modern ATS system and an attractive website that showcases what CBS has to offer as an employer.
Insight and overview for a modern recruitment process
Co-pilot in tendering and implementation
During the tender phase for a new ATS, Recruitee emerged as the preferred platform. Based on that selection, Matchlab was involved at an early stage as a co-pilot for the implementation and development of the new careers website.
Together with the CBS project team, we delved into the wishes, goals, and user experiences. We were a discussion partner in the design of Recruitee, advised on the link with AFAS, and ensured a seamless translation from technology to human usability.
From inventory to implementation
We started with a thorough inventory of the existing website, content, and candidate journeys. Where did candidates drop out? How did the route from job application to publication proceed?
With that insight, Matchlab designed a new foundation:
- A fresh, modern careers website, better tailored to the target groups (data analysts, IT professionals, researchers, and young professionals in The Hague and Heerlen).
- A streamlined connection between Recruitee and AFAS, so that job openings are automatically transferred and internal approvals are handled digitally.
- Complete insight into the candidate journey and the internal recruitment flow, giving everyone involved—from hiring managers to recruiters—a clear overview and control.
Visibly results-oriented
The result is a flexible, transparent, and measurable recruitment process. Job openings are now published faster; the time to market has been significantly reduced. Managers can independently create, approve, and follow up on positions, while recruiters work in a single integrated system.
The risk of errors is minimized and collaboration between departments is much more efficient.
In addition, the new website is not only more user-friendly, but also increases conversion rates. Candidates can find the right role more easily and get a clear picture of what working at CBS really means.
Collaboration with a sense of people and brand
“From the initial consultation to the final delivery, they provided us with excellent support thanks to their expertise, creativity, and patience. They really thought along with us, gave valuable advice about the best choices and user experiences, and translated our wishes into a modern and attractive website. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a partner who understands technology and has a feel for people and brand experience.”
Jeroen Rutten, Recruitment Coordinator & Project Manager CBS
Reflection: technology that helps people move forward
The collaboration between CBS and Matchlab proves that technology only has an impact when it empowers people. By bringing together insight, overview, and brand experience, CBS now has a recruitment process that not only works more efficiently—but also shows who they are as an employer.
